Rajasthan to add 10 GW solar capacity by 2026, becoming the nation’s top green energy state.
New Solar Projects and Investments
Rajasthan is on track to become India’s largest solar power producer by 2026, with plans to add over 10 GW of new capacity. This massive scale-up is part of India’s mission to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030 under its National Solar Mission.
The state government has signed MoUs with top firms like Adani Green, ReNew Power, and Tata Power Solar. The projects, spread across districts like Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Bikaner, will include ultra-mega solar parks, floating solar plants, and hybrid storage units.
Beyond clean power generation, these projects are expected to generate over 40,000 jobs and attract investments worth ₹50,000 crore. Local communities will benefit through infrastructure development and solar training programs.
Rajasthan’s arid climate, vast barren lands, and high solar irradiance make it an ideal hub for solar power. The move is expected to offset 25 million tons of CO2 annually and reduce reliance on thermal power.
With this shift, Rajasthan is positioning itself as a key contributor to India’s energy security and climate goals, inspiring other states to follow suit in embracing green energy.
